Kumar Parmar is slowly developing as a valley of local craftsmen with various Women organisations have been capacitated to develop marketable local products. One can mainly buy Pulleys (Grass shoes) and Woollen socks from local houses along with other crafted products.
Parmar Bhatori: A sub-valley consisting of three villages, namely, Kumar, Parmar and Parmar Bhatori. Parmar Bhatori is a Buddhist village with Gompha at the centre of the village whereas Kumar and Parmar are Hindu Villages.
This sub-valley offers a route to Basecamp (viewpoint) for Shiva peak with gregarious flowery slopes all around. Parmar bhatori has a gompha and is surrounded by meadows on all sides.
Binseri: At a walkable trek of 2 kms from Kumar village, Binseri is an open meadow surrounded by RF Rangi forest. It is a camp able site for tourists who would like to experience star-gazing from the top of the peak offering a wide stretch of visible sky in otherwise narrow valley.
What to expect
A good place to explore the age old crafts developed by Pangwals and Bhots of the Pangi valley. The treks leading towards the valley surrounded by snowy peaks goes through pea fields and meadows covered with wild flowers. Star-gazing at night from Binseri is an experience of lifetime.
Road between Phindroo and Sach goes through Bumbble forest offering a chance on Bird-watching to enthusiasts.
How to Reach ?
Located at a distance of 24 Kms from Killar, the route to Kumar Parmar goes through important villages such as Phindroo (approx. geographical centre of Pangi valley) and Sach (the previous administrative headquarter of valley). The road between Killar and Kumar is generally dirt road with patches of Tar road near Sach.
Near Attraction
Pangi Hills weavers’ association in Kumar village where travellers can buy local handicrafts at affordable rates. Binseri and Shiva basecamp are the perfect short treks for visitors. From Binseri one can trek towards the Guwadi village which is famous for its ‘Apple Orchards’.
Bird watching in Bumbble forest is among the attraction on the way.
